Tunable Medicine Drum – made to order

Tunable Medicine Drums from our workshop can be made from Goat, Fellow Deer or Deer hide. The hide is assembled in a way that enables tuning in situation of humid surrounding or to loosen the tension when it is very hot and dry. This way You can sustain the sound that is best suited for Your needs at a given moment. In the video section there is an instruction movie on how to tune the drum. Once You get some practice it can be easily done in few minutes. The drums are made with natural row hide. One of it’s qualities is working with the environment – humidity and temperature, so when very dry and warm the hide becomes very tense and the pitch goes up, and the opposite when humid it will loosen slightly and the sound will go down. For these Medicine Drums we use Goat, Fellow Deer or Deer row Hide.

These drums have been build in the workshop for 16 years and during this time many adjustments have been made in order to improve and fine tune the construction giving a beautiful instrument, a drum of a light and very durable construction.

Each Drum comes with a wooden beater finished with dry felt woolen head.

Made To Order

 This product is crafted upon request. When you place an order, we meticulously handcraft a drum with the hide  from the sam animal specious,  wood, style, and accents. It won’t be an exact replica of the drum depicted in the images, but we strive to ensure a close resemblance. Kindly anticipate a waiting period of 60-90 days for our drums. While we may occasionally finish orders earlier, we recommend allowing 60-90 days for the completion of more intricate customized items. The time required to finalize your drum is influenced by factors such as order volume, wood and hide availability, and the intricacy of your chosen instrument.
